Originally intended to be my read-while-on-the-go book, but as it turned out to be quite a hard-to-put-down book once you begin reading. A great book - both, remarkably intense and well-written. Medical terms used are undeniably easy to understand (for the general public too). Being a doctor-then-writer had definitely given Tess Gerritsen the advantage in writing a fantastic medical thriller.Synopsis:
Ok, I'm not a good storyteller, but bare with me for alittle while, yea. Taking place within the suburb of Boston, a serial killer is at lose, murdering lone woman - one after another. Tormenting them before finishing in a peculiarly ritual-like finish - cutting the victim's throat and a hysterectomy (removal of the womb) repetitively and expertly performed. Clearly with a profound medical knowledge and surgical skills, the public dubbed him "The Surgeon". Finding themselves caught within the killer's game of cat-and-mouse, Detective Thomas Moore, known also as Saint Thomas (he always mourn the loss of his wife to cancer) is called back from vacation as it emerges that the case is identical to a murder he once investigated a year ago, he's forced to form an uneasy partnership with the reluctant Jane Rizzoli, a recent additional to the Boston Homicide Unit.
Along the way, Rizzoli discovered something that makes this case even complicated - there was a similar case back in Savannah many years earlier with the last victim managed to a narrow escape from her predator by involuntary using a shotgun. Dr. Catherine Cordell, an attractive woman struggling to restart her life again as a Vascular Surgeon at the prestigious Pilgrim Medical Hospital, after a traumatic dark experience. As the three joined forces trying to solve the mystery killer's identity, it increasingly begins to look as though Dr Cordell's past may have returned from beyond Six-feet-Under to finish off what his had started.. Or could this new killer be a copycat, who knows just too much about the all the other previous cases?
(Stopping right here, to avoid any trouble from the publishing company...)
P.S, This is NOT a professional(or even sponsored) review. The very first review, as an occasional reader myself, this is RARE! Didn't know writing a review will be THIS hard.. At least, I've manage to read it till the end. phew!!(Off to grab something to eat...)
